of course the swan
snatches all the grace from our words.
locked in a car
parked
against the walkway,
and staring at dull, black waves as
seaweed colonises sand
the clock winds
down another lunch break
and we’re looking
out opposite windows
mine frames a boy with an ice-cream,
and he’s really happy with it
but his brother watches on
as if missing something.
Wow – what a fantastic poem. Makes me feel a little queasy in the stomach as I can feel the tension in the air. Parking the car ‘against the walkway’ says it all.
I love windows Ash… looking in ans looking out. Those opening lines are incredible. You had me hooked straight away…
Hi Gabrielle & Graham!
Thank you both, great to come home after a long day at work and read these comments, thanks!
This is cool Ash, shows how we can have two completely different views of the world from within the same, small space, you’ve merged the two visions to present the reader with a perfectly crafted third.
Thanks, Mark! I’m glad that the multiple viewpoints spill out – someone watching someone/something who is watching something/someone else etc!
i like windows
and the infinite possibilities they offer and show..
life is one
the windows many (i still run on an old windows 98 😉
Wow! Win98 – that’s awesome! I had windows ME for quite a few years at one stage. Never had a problem with it.
Thanks, Dhyan – I like the way windows can have that classic ‘view from either side’
