Just 2 Days Till the Queensland Poetry Festival Kicks Off!

As I’ve mentioned, I’ll be appearing at this year’s Queensland Poetry Festival! Getting very excited now. So if you’re in Brisbane this weekend (Fri-Sun), I’d would love to see you there. I have 3 performances, SAT 11:45am & 8:00pm, and SUN 3:15pm. The Festival will be at the Judith Wright Centre of Performing Arts.

Tiggy Johnson – First Taste

(Semi-recently) I was lucky enough to be involved with the publication of page seventeen editor Tiggy Johnson‘s first poetry collection, quite fittingly entitled ‘First Taste.’

It was fantastic to be involved with these poems, with a collection Graham Nunn says is ‘brimming with domestic luminosity‘ and I do agree. The poems in First Place reveal an unapologetic struggle with motherhood, a forthright engagement with the issues around parenthood and a powerful directness. Just check out ‘The Facts’ or ‘Shopping for Girls’ at Verity La.

In other instances the collection shows real tenderness in ‘Solitaire‘ and in ‘Concluding,’ or takes a sly look at the past.  There’s much more to enjoy, right down to a brilliant cover design by Jenny Chapman.
